  1. wondering if there is a way to find out which, if any, highways are closed because of the northern california fires - links anyone? It would be great if the map was a google map then could see which roads were affected.

  2. This is what happens when the bureaucracy believes its job is to serve itself and not the public. Very little information that is usable to the general public is on this site. The information is phrased in jargon and formatted in a manner not usually used by the general public. Perhaps you might refer us to a site that has general information on it. But noooooo this site just fuels the anti-government, anti-tax sentiment brought about out of frustration with exactly this kind of thing. So get used to lay-offs, pay freezes and little accountability, because really no one expects much from you anymore. You, the members of the bureaucracy, not the soldiers, not the police, certainly not the fire fighters, but you the pencil pushers (sorry, office workers and Administration) the creators and members of little fiefdoms are to blame and will bring this country down from within. Our enemies thank you I'm sure.

****REMINDER**** Every fire has the ability to be catastrophic. The wildland fire management environment has profoundly changed. Growing numbers of communities, across the nation, are experiencing longer fire seasons; more frequent, bigger, and more severe, fires are a real threat. Be careful with all campfires and equipment.

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer." --Abraham Lincoln
